Philadelphia Barrage News Release
Philadelphia, PA (June 27, 2007) - When the Philadelphia Barrage host the Long Island Lizards at 7p.m. this Saturday at United Sports Training Center in Downingtown, Pa., there will only be one thing on their minds-revenge.
After opening the season 3-0, the Barrage traveled to Long Island on June 16 where they saw their perfect record blemished in a 16-11 defeat. The game was tied at half, but the Barrage couldn't stop the Lizards' attack after the break. The road woes continued in Rochester last week, where the Barrage lost again, 16-11, to the Rattlers.
As the Barrage look to turn around a two-game skid, they will also be playing for a top spot in the league. The Lizards arrive in Downingtown in first place with a 4-1 record. A win for Philadelphia, who is one game back in the standings, would tie the Barrage for first with Long Island. Clearly, the stakes are high for the contest Saturday.
Two of the Barrage's 2007 All-Stars, defender Kyle Sweeney and goalie Kevin Dougherty, will have to halt a Lizards attack that scored nine straight goals in the their last meeting. Former Barrage player Keith Cromwell had five points in that game to lead the Lizards, off two goals and three assists.
The Barrage offense will also rely on strong performances by two other 2007 All-Stars, attackman Ryan Boyle and midfielder Matt Striebel. Boyle, who is tied for first in the MLL with 31 points, led the Barrage last game against the Lizards with four goals and two assists, and Striebel came in a close second with four points, off two goals and two assists, in that game as well.
The Philadelphia Barrage take on the Long Island Lizards at 7p.m. this Saturday at United Sports Training Center in Downingtown, Pa. The home stand will continue when the Barrage face the San Francisco Dragons on July 6 at USTC. Tickets are available online at www.philadelphiabarrage.com or by calling the Barrage ticket office at 610-355-8999.
