Rookies Debut in Washington

Several Bayhawks rookies made their debuts this weekend in Long Island. Eric Pittard made a splash in his first professional game scoring two goals and adding an assist against a stingy Lizards defense. Although the former Cornell attacker hadn't played with the Bayhawks before (his first time meeting the team was in the locker room), Hiller was confident he would fit in. "We knew what we were getting with him," Hiller said. "Even without any practice he did a great job for us."

Two other first timers also suited up for Washington. Luis Gonzalez of Salisbury and Ricky Smith of UVA saw their first action last weekend. "Hopefully we can keep those guys around and give them some more opportunities," Hiller said. However, a tight 18 man roster and hoard of experienced Bayhawks means tough decisions for the coach as playoff time approaches.
