PORTLAND, Ore. - Facing a quick turnaround, the Portland Timbers travel to square off against Sporting Kansas City in the decisive second leg of the Western Conference Championship in Audi 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs on Thursday at Children's Mercy Park. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. (Pacific), the match will be broadcast on ESPN and will feature local radio broadcasts on 750 AM/102.9 FM The Game (English) and La GranD 1150 AM/93.5 FM (Spanish).

On the road

The Timbers have four road wins in the MLS playoffs in six seasons, with a record of 4-2-2 all-time. Among teams that have played multiple road playoff matches, Portland has the best road postseason winning percentage (.625) in MLS. In addition, the Timbers have posted the best goal differential (+2) in road playoff games among MLS teams, scoring multiple goals in seven of their eight matches.

Postseason form

Sebastián Blanco and Diego Valeri are among eight MLS players who have scored multiple playoff goals in 2018. The Timbers are one of just two teams that have more than one player who has tallied two or more goals during that span. Additionally, Valeri is one of just four players with two or more assists and the only player to record multiple goals and assists during the 2018 postseason.

Clean sheets

The Timbers recorded their 11th shutout of the 2018 season and their ninth overall at Providence Park in the first leg of the Western Conference Championship against Sporting Kansas City as the two teams played to a scoreless draw on Nov. 25. Additionally, it was the ninth time Portland has held an opponent scoreless in a playoff game across all eras (since 1975).

Up next

The winner of the Western Conference Championship will travel to square off against either Atlanta United FC or the New York Red Bulls in MLS Cup on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 5 p.m. (Pacific) on FOX and UniMás.
