Timbers, Tropical Smoothie Hold New "Timbers" Flavor Contest

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Timbers and Tropical Smoothie NW today announced a new contest to determine the recipe for a new Timbers-themed smoothie to be sold at the restaurant's Portland and Vancouver, Wash., locations during the 2010 season.
Through the contest, fans are invited to submit both recipe ideas from select ingredients as well as name suggestions for the new menu item on the Timbers' Facebook page at www.facebook.com/PortlandTimbers. The winning concoction will be determined by a panel of Timbers players on Wednesday, June 2, at 1 p.m. at the Tropical Smoothie location near PGE Park at the corner of S.W. 18th Ave. and West Burnside St.; fans are encouraged to attend.
A portion of the proceeds from the sales of the new Timbers smoothie benefit the Portland Beavers & Portland Timbers Community Fund (PBPTCF), which donates more than $100,000 annually to youth-focused nonprofits in the greater-Portland area.
