Whitecaps FC Return to SHAW TV This Weekend

VANCOUVER, BC - Soccer fans throughout the province of British Columbia will once again be able to enjoy Vancouver Whitecaps FC matches live on Shaw TV, as the club announced today the 2010 broadcast schedule. This season will see nine Whitecaps FC men's team matches, including one away match, on Shaw TV, Cable 4. The 2010 USSF D-2 Pro League season marks the fifth consecutive year that the Whitecaps have partnered with Shaw TV as their primary regional broadcaster.
The Whitecaps kick off their 2010 Shaw broadcast package with a home and away contest against former head coach Bob Lilley and his Rochester Rhinos. The first match to be broadcast live is set for Saturday, May 22, at Swangard Stadium at 7 p.m. PT. One week later on Saturday, May 29, fans will again be able to catch all the action live, as Vancouver goes on the road to take on the Rhinos at Marina Auto Stadium in Rochester, New York, at 4 p.m. PT. The last Shaw broadcast of 2010 will be the Whitecaps final regular season match. On Saturday, October 2, Teitur Thordarson's side host Pacific Northwest rivals and Major League Soccer expansion cousins Portland Timbers at 4 p.m. PT. In addition to the matches on Shaw TV, all league home and away matches are available live online at whitecapsfc.com/live, with live match updates available at twitter.com/WhitecapsFC.
Peter Schaad - the voice of the Whitecaps - returns for his sixth season as the play-by-play announcer. Alan Errington, a former assistant coach with Canada's men's national team and Vancouver 86ers, will again join Peter in the broadcast booth as colour commentator, while Kristin Reid will provide live interviews and additional insight from the sidelines.
All Whitecaps matches on Shaw TV will be available throughout the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island in Victoria, Nanaimo, and Duncan, as well as Whistler, Kamloops, Kelowna, Prince George, and Calgary, Alberta. Matches will also be available nationally on Shaw Direct - satellite channel 299.
