Timbers' Brown Named To Team Of The Week

PORTLAND, Ore. - United Soccer Leagues announced today that new Portland Timbers forward Chris Brown was named to the USL First Division Team of the Week for Week 1 with his game-winning goal against the Puerto Rico Islanders on April 17.

Brown, a native of Portland, scored his first goal of the season to help the Timbers capture a 1-0 win over Puerto Rico at PGE Park to open the 2008 USL First Division season last week. It's his first Team of the Week selection.

He joined the Timbers in January following nine seasons in Major League Soccer, where he appeared in 197 matches and tallied 27 goals. Brown started his professional career in 1999 with the Kansas City Wizards of MLS after a standout collegiate career at the University of Portland.

In 2007, 13 Timbers players earned a total of 23 Team of the Week selections throughout the season.

The Timbers host two games in three days as they face the Minnesota Thunder on Thursday and Seattle Sounders on Saturday at PGE Park; kickoff for both matches is slated for 7 p.m. Starting at $11, tickets for both matches are available at the PGE Park box office, area Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at (503) 224-4400.
