MIDSEASON STANDINGS

The top six clubs qualify for the playoffs, with the top two receiving first-round byes in the postseason. Wins against Seattle and Vancouver this weekend would vault Portland into fourth place.

BYRON BREAKS THROUGH

With his first-half goal in Saturday's 1-1 draw versus Vancouver, striker Byron Alvarez snapped a string of seven games without a goal, which was his longest dry spell between strikes since joining the Timbers in 2003.
