Impact midfielder Mauro Biello scored two goals in a 2-0 win against the Richmond Kickers, Wednesday, July 6, in front of 10, 503 fans at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex. The victory allowed the Montreal team to remain undefeated in 12 games this season (8-0-4).

With the win, the Impact tied the club record for the longest undefeated streak, which stands at 12 games (8-0-4) and was established last season.

The Impact were also victorious on Sunday, July 3, this time against the Seattle Sounders, by a score of 3-1, in front of 11,796 spectators at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex.

NOTES

Wednesday's victory over the Kickers was goalkeeper Andrew Olivieri's first shutout of the season, in three starts.

With the win, the Impact is one point away from the first-place Kickers in the United Soccer Leagues First Division standings, with 28 points. Montreal has four games in hand, however.

Defender David Fronimadis played his first game of the season against the Sounders on Sunday after being sidelined with a knee injury suffered in a pre-season game on May 23, 2004 against Haiti. He also saw action against the Kickers on Wednesday.

Striker Eduardo Sebrango fractured a bone in his right foot on June 30 in a 1-0 win over the Timbers in Portland. He will be sidelined for about six weeks.

Forward Ali Gerba was named Player of the Week in the First Division of the United Soccer Leagues for a second time this season. Gerba, who joined the Impact on May 19, scored two goals in the 3-1 win over the Seattle Sounders on July 3. He also scored two goals in his first game wearing an Impact uniform this year, against the Rochester Raging Rhinos.

THE IMPACT AT THE GOLD CUP

Impact players Greg Sutton, Adam Braz, Gabriel Gervais, Sandro Grande, Patrick Leduc and Ali Gerba are presently with the Canadian national team preparing for their game against Costa Rica Thursday, July 7. It will be Canada's opening first-round match-up at the Gold Cup tournament being held in the United States.

The Impact plays the Thunder in Minnesota on Friday, July 15 at James Griffin Stadium (8pm, RDS, FOX). Then, Nick De Santis' squad will play a home and away series against the Toronto Lynx on Friday, July 22, in Toronto, and Sunday, July 24, at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex (4pm, CKAC, CJAD).
