Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release
LEWISTON, ME - The Victoriaville Tigres scored five power play goals to defeat the Lewiston MAINEiacs 5-0 Friday night at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. The MAINEiacs concluded their regular season home schedule in front of announced crowd of 3,267, the highest of the season.
Brandon Hynes started the scoring at 9:50, tipping a shot past MAINEiacs goaltender Adrien Lemay. The goal was the 40th of the season for Hynes. Victoriaville added to its lead in the second, receiving goals from Chris Doyle and Joel Chouinard, making the score 3-0.
The Tigres used the man advantage twice more in the third on goals by Joel Champagne, and the second of the night by Chris Doyle. Victoriaville goaltender Kevin Poulin recorded his 7th shutout of the season, which was a franchise record. Poulin stopped all 26 shots face in the game.
Despite the loss and a Baie-Comeau win over Chicoutimi tonight, Lewiston still holds the final playoff spot in the QMJHL. Both teams are tied, with 49 points in the standings, however Lewiston holds all tiebreakers. The MAINEiacs will take on Drummondville Sunday at 4:00 p.m. Baie-Comeau plays at Quebec on Sunday.
