Hamilton Tiger-Cats News Release
Hamilton, Ontario - The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have unveiled plans for a new community initiative, the TicatsBeFitprogram presented by Ticketmaster, Marchese Health Care and Hamilton Partners in Nutrition. The new program, focusing on promoting healthy active children in the city of Hamilton, will visit 80 local schools over the course of the next year.
"We are thrilled to begin a community program that has the ability make a positive impact on so many students within the Hamilton School Boards. We would like to thank our presenting sponsors, Ticketmaster and Marchese Health Care, as well as our community partners for making this program possible," said President Scott Mitchell.
Beginning today, the BeFit program will bring Ticats players into local schools to help serve a nutritious breakfast and speak to the students about the importance of healthy eating and exercise. Each child will be given a book that promotes literacy and active living and later take part in a physical activity with Ticats players during recess.
Each child who participates will be invited to a fitness day at Ivor Wynne Stadium where they will have an opportunity to exercise on the field with the Ticats at a team practice.
