Tide Announce Youth Sportsmanship Award

Upper Marlboro, MD - February 4, 2008. The Chesapeake Tide, of the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) announced the formation of the Tide Pride Youth Sportsmanship Award. The award will be given to an area youth athlete who most exemplifies the spirit of their game by showing true sportsmanship to their teammates and opponents. The award is open to all sports.
"We have built a strong bond with youth sports in the area. We know that our players are role models for the young players in the area, and likewise, they are an integral part of our success. We wanted to find a way to recognize, and give back, to local youth sports," stated Tide General Manager, John Wolfe.
All finalists for the award will be recognized at the Tide's Youth Sports/Students Night on Saturday, May 31st at 7:30 PM at The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The winner will be announced at halftime and will receive a trophy, an official CIFL football autographed by the Tide, and their photo with the Tide.
To be eligible, the athlete must have participated in a sport during 2007 or 2008. To enter, organizations must submit the following, via email, to tidefootball@gmail.com: a paragraph describing the athlete's display of sportsmanship, their full name, organization, sport(s), and their age. Nominations will only be accepted by youth sports organizations. Deadline for submissions is March 7th. Finalists will be notified by March 14th.
In celebration of Youth Sports/Students Night, the Tide is offering Blue Section tickets for only $12 (a savings of $6 off of the regular price) for groups of ten or more. In addition the Tide will donate $2 to each organization/team/school for every ticket purchased. For more information on pricing for this special night, email tidefootball@gmail.com.
