Windy City ThunderBolts News Release
The Windy City ThunderBolts are pleased to announce that as part of their Salute to the Military Night on June 30, they will be honoring soldiers from the recently returned Bravo 2-122 unit.
In a pregame ceremony before Windy City takes on Southern Illinois, the ThunderBolts will recognize the members of Bravo 2-122 in attendance and thank them for their efforts. All members of the unit will receive free admission to that night's game.
Bravo 2-122 is a unit of the Illinois National Guard based out of the south suburbs. The unit returned from a tour of duty in Afghanistan earlier this month.
"We wanted to do what we are able to for those who have helped protect our country," said Chad Cooper, coordinator of the event. "We need to remember what these servicemen have done for us. Not remember just tonight, but for always."
As part of the evening, the ThunderBolts will also donate their portion of the night's halfpot proceeds to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization dedicated to honoring and empowering wounded warriors.
All active and retired members of the military can receive half price admission to the game by showing a valid military ID card or a DD-214 at the box office. Members of the general public can receive $5 admission by bringing a prepaid phone card (valued at $10 or more) to the game. The phone cards will then distributed to servicemen and women overseas so they can better stay in touch with their families at home
