FLORENCE, KY - In his first start of the season Julio Soriano was fine through three, but the right-hander found trouble in the fourth as the Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti reeled off 11 straight runs in an 11-1 win Saturday night over the Florence Freedom.

Soriano entered having appeared 12 times this season all from the bullpen. Through three innings he didn't allow a run and struck out three. Everything seemed to be going his way, as quickly there were two outs in the fourth.

But Soriano walked Bryan Bonner and Clay McCord followed with a single. Ben Barrone then stepped up to the plate and made it 3-1 Midwest with one swing of the bat, homering to right field.

The Sliders tacked on four more off Charles Williams in the fifth to make it 7-1. Barrone was not done after homering in the fourth, the catcher again homered with two men on in the sixth to cap off a four run inning to make it 11-1.

Barrone finished going 2-4 with two homers, numbers three and four on the season, with six RBI.

James Albury started for the Sliders and allowed only an unearned run in the third inning. Brad Hough reached on an error and then scored after a wild pitch and RBI single by Matt Stiffler.

Albury went seven strong and struck out four as he improved to 4-1. Soriano dropped to 0-2 with the loss.

Jimmy Stanley made his professional debut for the Freedom and tossed two innings of scoreless relief.

The Freedom (18-16) and Sliders (14-20) will conclude their two game series Sunday night at 6:05 p.m. from Champion Window Field. It will be a kids run the bases/post game autographs Sunday at the park as well as a special "Salute to the Troops" night.
