
ThunderBolts Returning to Frontier League Playoffs

Crestwood, IL - A Ross Stout one-hit shutout to defeat the Southern Illinois Miners on Thursday evening enabled the Windy City ThunderBolts to clinch a return to the Frontier League playoffs. The ThunderBolts, 2007 Frontier League Champions, will look to defend their title when the playoffs open next weekend. The ThunderBolts' 2008 playoff run is presented by the Vee Pack Hawks.
Tickets for 2008 playoff games at Standard Bank Stadium will go on sale at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 30. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Standard Bank Stadium box office in Crestwood from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday and on-line at HYPERLINK "http://www.wcthunderbolts.com" www.wcthunderbolts.com. The Standard Bank Stadium box office will be open at 8:00 am daily starting on Monday, September 1. Ticket prices will remain the same as during the regular season - $8 for lower box seats, $7 for upper box seats, and $550 for a 25-person executive suite with tickets and food.
The ThunderBolts will be hosting a Playoff Rally from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 4 at Standard Bank Stadium. The Rally, which is free and open to the public, will feature the conclusion of the ThunderBolts' work out and allow fans to take behind the scenes tours of Standard Bank Stadium, meet the entire team for autographs and pictures, and take batting practice on the field. Kids can create posters congratulating the ThunderBolts that will be posted around Standard Bank Stadium for the playoffs and take part in kid's zone activities at no charge. Draft beer, fountain soft drinks, and hot dogs will be available for $1 each.
The ThunderBolts are currently the third seed in the Frontier League playoffs, one game behind the Southern Illinois Miners for the West Division title and three games behind the Kalamazoo Kings for the top seed. Six teams remain in contention for the final playoff berth.
Should the ThunderBolts remain the third seed, they will host games three and four (if necessary) of the first round on Monday, September 8 and Tuesday, September 9. If the ThunderBolts win the West Division, they will receive home field advantage in the first round and host games 1, 2, and 5 (if necessary) on Friday, September 5; Saturday, September 6; and Thursday, September 11.
The highest remaining seed will have home field advantage in the Frontier League Championship Series and host games 1, 2, and 5 (if necessary) on Saturday, September 13; Sunday, September 14; and Friday, September 19. The lower-seeded team will host games 3 and 4 (if necessary) on Tuesday, September 16 and Wednesday, September 17. Games at Standard Bank Stadium will begin at 7:05 pm, with Sunday playoff games starting at 6:05 pm.
