ThunderBolts-Maulers Playoff Preview

LAKELAND-The Lakeland ThunderBolts are heading back to the playoffs for the second time in their two year history and they are on a mission to bring the National Indoor Football Championship home to Lakeland. In the first round of the playoffs the Lakeland ThunderBolts (12-2) will face the Montgomery Maulers (7-7). This will be the second meeting between these two teams, the first meeting took place in Lakeland with the ThunderBolts winning the game, 34-21. The ThunderBolts are set to play the Maulers on July 8th at the Lakeland Center. Kick off is set for 7pm.

About the Maulers- With their own share of bumps and bruises this year, Montgomery has bounced back and are looking forward to making their own playoff run. To help ensure that they have what it takes to make a good run the Maulers have strengthened their roster and hired a new head coach, Michael Mink. The Maulers finished the regular season ranked 14th in the league for scoring offense and 12th in the league for scoring defense. RB Charlie Rollins lead the Maulers this year in rushing with 84.0 yards. While WR Machion Sanders lead the team this year in receiving with 54.2 yards. On the defensive side of the ball, DB Jamaal Fletcher lead the team in total tackles with 84.5 on the season.

About the ThunderBolts-The ThunderBolts are on a mission to bring the National Indoor Football Championship home to Lakeland and their regular season record shows they might just have what it takes to bring it home. The ThunderBolts finish up the regular season ranked 8th in the league for total scoring offense and still remain ranked 1st in the league for scoring defense, where they have been all season. For the ThunderBolts QB Jason Johnson leads the team in total rushing yards with 37.4 for the 2006 season. On the receiving end WR Kenny Perry leads the ThunderBolts with 40.3 yards on the year. On defense LB/DB Lance Small leads Lakeland in total tackles with 44.5 for the season.
