ThunderBolts: from the Flight Line (SPHL Week 23 Preview)

EVANSVILLE, IN - After last weekends' games, the Thunderbolts are seven points out of a playoff spot with seven games remaining. Evansville has picked up points in four straight games and five of their last six. They have had back-to-back three-point weekends to gain playoff positioning on Roanoke. Unfortunately, the Columbus Cottonmouths have been better. They have passed Roanoke in the standings and now secure the eighth and final SPHL playoff spot.

Evansville hosts the Fayetteville FireAntz this weekend. The FireAntz have 66 points on the season and have clinched a playoff spot. Evansville does not have a victory against them this inaugural season. In fact, they have only generated two goals in three games against Fayetteville.

Fayetteville leads the league in goals against on the season. They have surrendered 107 goals, a 2.23 goals against average per game. They are led by the league's best goaltender Sean Bonar. Bonar has 28 wins for the season and a .930 save percentage. He leads the league in Wins, Minutes Played, Saves, Shutouts and Save Percentage.

The Wing Man

The Evansville Thunderbolts want to extend congratulations to the Duff Law men's hockey team. This past weekend the Duff Law team won the USA Hockey Labatt's Blue Men's Championship (Intermediate Division) in Indianapolis, IN. Duff Law was led by local players Patrick Duff, Adam Whitmore, Scott Fankhouser, Chris Schmidt, Brian Hutchinson and Adam Salimen. Former Reitz Panther (EYHA) Hockey Coach Tolly Tsiamas allowed a scant 3 goals in four games. The Duff Law office shares the second floor with Thunderbolts Headquarters in downtown Evansville.
