LAKELAND-The Undefeated Lakeland ThunderBolts (7-0) are in Hollywood, FL this week to take on division rivals the Florida Frenzy (2-4) Monday, May 15 at the Hard Rock Live. The ThunderBolts are coming off a decisive victory over the Monroe Twin City Gators 88-14. The Frenzy played the Charleston SandSharks on May 1, and came up short, losing by 2 points, 48-46. Monday's game will be the second meeting between the ThunderBolts and Frenzy, the ThunderBolts were victorious over the Frenzy 61-20.
About the Frenzy: The Florida Frenzy should be well rested when the undefeated Lakeland ThunderBolts come to town. The Frenzy are hungry to hand the ThunderBolts their first lose of the season. In the game against the Charleston SandSharks, the Frenzy only lost by 2 after being behind substantially throughout the game.
About the ThunderBolts: The ThunderBolts totally dominated the game against Monroe defeating the Gators 88-14. In only his second game of the season with the ThunderBolts RB Cortlandt Florence continued to show that he is an asset to the team driving the ball up the field 9 times for a total of 50 yards and 4 touchdowns. QB Jason Johnson completed 3-of-7 passes for 53 yards and 1 touchdown. Johnson did not stay in the whole game, rookie QB Antwan Blatch got some playing time. Blatch completed 3-of-6 pass, with 1 interception and 2 touchdowns. WR Kenny Perry added to the score with 2 catches for 50 yards and 2 touchdowns. The ThunderBolts defense shut the Gators out the second half of the game. The ThunderBolts forced two safeties; one was on a blocked field-goal attempt by LB/DE Brenden Givan. The defense also recorded 7 sacks for a total loss of 55 yards.
The ThunderBolts are at home again May 20 vs. St. Louis RiverCity Rage. Kick off is at 7pm at the Lakeland Center.
