New Mexico Thunderbirds News Release
Rio Rancho, NM - The NBA Development League New Mexico Thunderbirds announced today that they will be unveiling a new team mascot on Friday Night, October 1, 2010 at Cleveland High School's homecoming football game.
The new mascot will be making his debut appearance at Cleveland High School's second annual Storm Coming tailgate party from 4-7 PM and will be officially introduced to the public during halftime of the football game between Cleveland and Manzano High School.
"We are very excited to welcome our brand new mascot to the community and we are looking forward to having him become an integral part of our organization," Thunderbirds co-owner Jackie Bregman said.
Last season, the New Mexico Thunderbirds were honored to receive an award from the NBA Development League for having made over 200 appearances for charities, schools, hospitals and other community events. The team plans to continue its busy schedule of community events during the 2010-11 season. Schools and community groups that are interested in scheduling an appearance with the new mascot may visit www.nmtbirds.com for an appearance request form, or call the Thunderbirds office at (505) 265-3865.
The Thunderbirds' original mascot, Trey, has been with the team since 2005. Trey will remain an active part of the organization, but this season, he will be able to enjoy some well-deserved quiet time at his nest in the Sandia Mountains.
Thunderbirds season tickets are currently on sale with full and partial season packages available. For more information call 265-3865 or visit www.nmtbirds.com.
