Bloomington Thunder News Release

The Bloomington Thunder captured their league-leading fourth straight win and second consecutive victory over the Peoria Rivermen, a 2-0 triumph on New Year's Eve at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

The defensive affair was scoreless until the final minute of the second period when Zac Pearson fired the game's first score from close range on assists from Peter Cintala and Branden Parkhouse on a power play with just under 18 seconds before the second intermission.

The Thunder pushed the advantage to 2-0 when Ron Cramer knocked down a pass high in the Bloomington zone and started an odd-man rush that was completed by a Kyle Watson running drive in the slot with 2:49 left in regulation.

Max Strang earned the 27-save shutout on the day he was named Easton Southern Professional Hockey League Player of the Week for the second time this season. Eric Levine stopped 28 shots in the loss. The Thunder were 1-of-5 on the power play while the Rivermen did not convert any of their seven chances.

The Thunder travel to Peoria on New Year's Day for a 5:15 p.m. face-off at Carver Arena to begin a three-game road trip that will include games this Friday and Saturday in Columbus, Ga.
