
Bloomington's Max Strang Named Easton Player of the Week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC (December 31, 2013) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced goaltender Max Strang of the Bloomington Thunder is the Easton Player of the Week for December 23-29.
Strang backstopped the Thunder to a pair of road wins over Fayetteville, posting a 1.50 goals against average and .963 save percentage as he stopped 77 of 80 shots for the weekend.
On Friday, the Gilbertsville, PA native made 40 saves, including 17 in the second period, as Bloomington scored a power-play goal with just three seconds remaining in regulation to defeat the FireAntz 2-1. Strang was again strong between the pipes on Saturday, stopping 37 of 39 shots as the Thunder downed Fayetteville 5-2.
Strang, who was also named Easton Player of the Week for November 11-17, played his collegiate hockey at Mercyhurst University, posting a career record of 30-29-6 with a 2.81 goals against average and a .918 save percentage. He was named the team's Most Valuable Player following his junior season and led the country in assists by a goaltender (4) his senior season. While at Mercyhurst, Strang majored in intelligence studies and Russian studies.
