Bloomington Thunder News Release
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Bloomington Thunder captured their second consecutive win for the first time in six weeks, rebounding from a late tying goal to score the game-winner from Kyle Watson with 3.1 seconds left in regulation for a 2-1 win on Friday night at Crown Coliseum.
The Thunder took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission on a Burke Gallimore redirect of a bouncing puck in the slot from Curtis Megginson with the second assist given to Watson with 3:20 remaining.
The FireAntz trailed by that narrow margin until just 1:44 remaining in regulation when they emptied their net for an extra attacker goal when Chris Greene buried a rebound.
The Thunder capitalized on a late power play for their heroics. With Brett Liscomb sent off for tripping with 1:11 left, the Thunder found the net just before the final horn when Gallimore tapped a centering pass from behind the net to the top edge of the crease, where Watson snapped it between the legs of Antz goalie Peter Skoggard for the winner with only 3.1 seconds showing on the regulation clock.
Max Strang picked up his second straight win with 40 saves. Skoggard stopped 22 shots in the loss. Both teams were given three power plays with the Thunder scoring the only man-advantage tally on the game-winner.
The teams rematch on Saturday at 6:05 p.m. Central at Crown Coliseum. The game can be heard on WJBC.com and viewed via subscription at America One Sports with both links on www.bloomingtonthunder.com. Fans are invited to watch all road games at Six Strings, 524 N.
