BLOOMINGTON - The Bloomington Thunder used a late power play to score twice and defeat the Peoria Rivermen for the fourth straight time, 4-2 on Tuesday night at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

The Rivermen struck first on their second power play with 10:28 left in the second period by Matt Viola with a wrister from the slot to the stick side on assists from Garrett Vermeersch and Joe Schiller. The Thunder countered just 58 seconds later as Travis Granbois converted a turnover with a running wrist shot from the left circle.

The Thunder capitalized on a five-minute power play on a major boarding penalty against Peoria's Cole Ruwe with a score deep in the slot by Mike Henderson helped by Kyle Watson and Tyler Noseworthy with 4:28 remaining in regulation, but the Rivermen answered 1:07 later on a shorthanded goal by Joe Schiller as he pounded home a rebound on assists from Steve Morra and Garrett Vermeersch. The Thunder lit the lamp for a 3-2 lead with just 11 seconds left on the major power play with 2:22 remaining on a top shelf rip glove-side from the slot by Paul D'Agostino on assists from Bobby Watson and Travis Granbois. After a tie-up in the Bloomington zone, Kyle Watson flung the puck into an empty Peoria net with 31.8 seconds for the final tally.

B.J. O'Brien stopped 38 Peoria shots for the win while Kyle Rank suffered the loss with 28 saves. Both teams were given four power plays with the Thunder converting twice and the Rivermen once.
