Daytona Beach Thunder News Release

Daytona Beach, Fla. - Daytona Beach Thunder fans can get a sneak peek of the American Indoor Football League's inaugural 2006 season on Sunday, October 2 when the team hosts an Open House at the Ocean Center beginning at 8:00 AM.

The open house will coincide with the Thunder's first tryout session, to be held on the franchise's state-of-the-art field system, which formerly served as the home turf for the Carolina Cobras of the Arena Football League.

While tryouts are taking place, fans can scour the Ocean Center in search of the perfect spot for their season tickets. Thunder ownership, staff and players will be on hand to answer questions and greet fans as momentum builds towards the February 2006 opener.

"Not only are you going to get a chance to see what the AIFL's best game system looks like, you may see a future Thunder superstar proving his stuff," said Thunder owner Zack McDonald. "We're giving our fans a chance to be part of this team from the very beginning.

"I'm proud to be providing a first class turf for our players," McDonald added. "In addition to cutting down on injuries, it [the field] shows that we are very serious about delivering a first-class product in every aspect of the operation."

On the field, Head Coach/General Manager Ervin Bryson and his staff will be on hand to closely evaluate players for all positions.

"I'm looking for talent that will compliment the veteran players we have committed to play," Bryson said. "If you have the skills, you're going to get the look. It's that simple. Having the tryout on an indoor field will also give me a better opportunity to see how everyone performs in a game situation."

Registration begins promptly at 8:00 AM with tryouts running from 9 AM until approximately noon. Cost to participate is $55, cash or money order only.

Players are asked to bring appropriate footwear, shorts and shirts as all other equipment will be provided. Sports drink and water will be provided.

For those arriving early, the Burger King located just north of the Ocean Center will offer a 20% discount on breakfast, as well as a discount for food after the workout. Those wishing to arrive early can call Plaza Ocean Club at 386-239-9800 and ask for the Daytona Beach Thunder rate.

Locally owned and operated by Zack McDonald, Kevin McDonald and Jay Burton, the Thunder is committed to providing first-class, family-oriented sports entertainment while serving its community in a professional manner.
