Daytona Beach Thunder News Release
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. The Daytona Beach Thunder all but finalized its preseason roster with the signing of three players following private workouts recently held in South Carolina. The addition of offensive lineman Ricky Williams, wide receiver David Kersey and all-purpose athlete Donnie Bryant brings to the total of players on the American Indoor Football League expansion franchise's roster to 39 - one shy of the 40-man limit.
"Everything is coming together,'' said Head Coach/General Manager Ervin Bryson. "These are three players that can make a definite contribution."
Williams (6-5, 340) spent two years at South Carolina State while Bryant (6-1, 215) was Western Carolina's second-leading rusher in the 2000 and 2001 campaigns while running the lead leg for WCU's 2001 Southern Conference 4X100 championship relay team. Kersey (6-0, 180) did not play college ball, but had an impressive workout that included a 4.4 40-yard dash and a 3.9 time in the shuttle drill.
Dedicated to establishing itself as an integral part of the local community through fan and sponsorship participation, the Thunder begins its inaugural season February 2006, with its Ocean Center home opener March 2 against the Raleigh Rebels followed by a post-game concert featuring Southern rock legends Molly Hatchet.
