Daytona Beach Thunder News Release
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Daytona Beach Thunder Head Coach/General Manager Ervin Bryson announced the signing of two quarterbacks today.
Travis Wilson and Daytona Beach native Isacc Hall brings to four the number of quarterbacks on the Thunder's preseason rosters and sets the stage for an interesting preseason battle for the starter's job. Wilson played for the National Indoor Football League's Miami Morays last seaso, throwing for 506 yards and 13 touchdowns while leading the team in rushing with 307 yards. A four-year starter behind center at Wofford University, Wilson ended up owning several school records when his career was completed and he started every game after being inserted into the sixth game of his freshman year. Wilson ended as the all-time leading passer with 4,067 yards, the single-season completion percentage record with 64.5 in 1999 and the single-game mark with 77.8 percent against Middle Tennessee State in 1999. He also holds the top two spots as the single-season leader in offense with 2,157 yards in 1999, and 1,982 yards in 2000. Named the team captain in 2001 and served for three years, Wilson also earned team MVP honors in 1999 and 2001. Wilson ended his career as the second overall in total offense for a career with 6,555 total yards. Hall, a former Mainland HS star, rushed for five touchdowns as a backup quarterback for the now dormant Daytona Beach Hawgs last season.
In college, Hall was a two-time Central State Football League player of the year while at NW Oklahoma State. In 2002, he rushed for 603 yards and threw for 1,458 yards and 14 touchdowns to lead NW Oklahoma to the second round of the NAIA playoffs. In 2001, Hall rushed for 629 and 10 scores while throwing for 1,194 yards and 5 touchdowns to garner a nomination for finalist for 2001 NAIA player of the year. Wilson and Hall will compete with former North Carolina State starter Jose Laureano and Benedict product Marcus Walker. The Thunder will hold a tryout December 3 at Municipal Stadium beginning at 8 a.m. The American Indoor Football League expansion team opens its inaugural season Feb. 26, 2006 with the home opener March 2 against the Raleigh Rebels.
