Thunder Score Early and Hang On

Harlingen, Texas - the McAllen Thunder score four runs in the first inning and hung on to defeat the Rio Grande Valley White Wings by a score 6-5 on Thursday night at Harlingen Field.

Both the McAllen Thunder (29-50) and the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings (45-33) put runners aboard on Thursday, but the Thunder was able to take the advantage.

The Rio Grande Valley Whitewings scored three runs in the third inning and it would be as close as they would get until the ninth inning when the score was 4-3.

Davis Page had a hot bat for the McAllen Thunder. Page went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the second innings and tripled in the fifth inning.

Brian Murphy (5-6) recorded the win for the Thunder allowing four runs over 6 2/3 innings. Murphy struck out six, walked none and gave up eight hits.

Erinzon Bautista (2-1) ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked five, struck out none, and allowed four runs.

Chad Robinson earned his 13th save of the season pitching scoreless ninth inning facing only three batters.

The Thunder will wrap up their four game series against the White Wings on Friday night at Harlingen Field with the first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
