Thunder Repair Offensive Line

May 29, 2014 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Portland Thunder News Release

PORTLAND, OR - The Portland Thunder responded to some recent offensive line injuries by acquiring a pair of new offensive linemen, Abe Markowitz from the University of Southern California, and Nick Torresso of Bowling Green

Markowitz (6-1, 305) walked on at USC and eventually played both center and guard in 2012 and 2013 for the Trojans after foot injuries prevented him from playing in both 2010 and 2011. He also participated in track and field as a shotputter and in the discus for the Trojans. He is a member of one of Samoa's royal families, and a cousin of the King of Tonga.

Torresso (6-2, 315) is a two-year AFL veteran, having played in 2012 with the Milwaukee Mustangs and in 2013 with the Tampa Bay Storm. While he's spent most of his time on offense, where he has 51 yards from scrimmage as an offensive lineman, he has also pitched in on defense, both at Bowling Green and in the AFL. In Milwaukee in 2012, Torresso made 3.5 tackles and forced a fumble as a defensive lineman.

Both players will be eligible to play this Friday at 7 p.m. in Spokane. To keep up with everything going on with the Thunder, visit our website at _www.portlandthunder.com_ or keep up with us on Facebook (facebook.com/PDXThunder), Twitter or Instagram (@PDXThunder).
