Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA (May 29, 2014) - The Back-to-Back American Conference Champion Philadelphia Soul announce the acquisition of offensive lineman, Duke Robinson (6'5, 330, Oklahoma) and future considerations in a trade with the Spokane Shock for defensive back, Fred Shaw (6'2, 220, Central Oklahoma) and future considerations.

"We had the opportunity to get some depth in our offensive line and we decided to make the move," said Soul head coach, Clint Dolezel. "The offensive line is a position where you can never have too much talent and Robinson will be a welcome addition to our group."

In his second AFL season, Robinson has recorded two total tackles as well as one reception for nine yards. In 2009 he was the 163rd overall draft pick in the 5th round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers. Robinson played four seasons at the University of Oklahoma, where he was a member of the 2009 Sooners that made it to the BCS National Championship game. As a junior and senior, Robinson was named First Team All-American, as well as Sports Illustrated All- Decade team in 2009.

Shaw, acquired by the Soul from the San Antonio Talons earlier this season, recorded 22.0 total tackles and one pass breakup with the Talons. As a member of the Soul, Shaw tallied nine tackles and one forced fumble. In 2013, he recorded 64.5 total tackles, 11 interceptions, two forced fumbles and a team-leading 16 pass breakups. In 2012, Shaw set a single-season franchise-record 120.0 total tackles to go along with a team-high eight interceptions for San Antonio.

The Philadelphia Soul (5-5) will host the San Antonio Talons (1-9) this Sunday, June 1 at 5 p.m. in the Wells Fargo Center. The game can also be seen on ESPNEWS.
