Daytona Beach Thunder News Release
CANTON, Ohio - Too bad Kevin McDonald went to Ohio as owner of an indoor football team and not a travel agent booking vacations to Daytona Beach.
"Everyone I talked to wanted to come down here and play us,'' said McDonald, one of the three principle owners of the Atlantic Indoor Football League's Daytona Beach Thunder. "I could have done very well this weekend arranging a lot of trips."
McDonald traveled to the birthplace of football for the Thunder's first participation in AIFL owners meetings on August 13.
"It was a good first meeting,'' McDonald said. "It was a privilege representing the Daytona Beach area and our organization group. Even though I was the only one there from Daytona Beach [McDonald's brother, Zack, is away on family vacation and Jay Burton remained in Florida for a family medical emergency] we were on the same page.
"It's exciting to be a part of this," McDonald added. "All of us know we have a lot of control and input in setting the tone for a successful league for many years to come."
The league will have another meeting in September.
The Daytona Beach Thunder takes to the field for its inaugural season in the Atlantic Indoor Football League beginning in the spring of 2006. Locally owned and operated by Zack McDonald, Kevin McDonald and Jay Burton, the Thunder is committed to providing first-class, family-oriented sports entertainment while serving its community in a professional manner.
