Thunder Lose Early Lead

Harlingen, Texas - the McAllen Thunder scored six runs in the first two innings but it was not enough as the Rio Grande Valley White Wings came back and defeated the Thunder 11-6 at Harlingen Field on Friday night.

Leivi Ventura racked up two RBIs on three hits for the White Wings as he homered in the second inning and producing singles in the fourth and eighth innings.

Wander Perez earned his third save of the season against the Thunder while tossing 2 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four.

Yasser Gomez had a hot bat for the McAllen Thunder. Gomez went 3-5 and scored two runs. He singled in the first, second, and fourth innings.

Luis Noel (8-2) recorded the win for the White Wings even though he allowed six runs over 6 2/3 innings. Noel struck out nine, walked one and gave up nine hits.

Scott Sobczak (1-1) took the loss lasting just four innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed three runs.

The Thunder will start a four game home series against the Edinburg Roadrunners on Saturday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium with the first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
