Edinburg, Texas - The McAllen Thunder scored four runs in the seventh and eighth inning but it was not enough as they dropped their first home game of the season to the Abilene Prairie Dogs by a score of 6-4 Wednesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
Kyle Nichols went 2-3 as the Abilene Prairie Dogs (5-8) took home a 6-4 victory over the McAllen Thunder (3-11) at Edinburg Stadium on Wednesday.
He singled in the first and fourth innings.
Nick Mahin went a perfect 4-4 at the plate for the McAllen Thunder. He singled in the second, fourth, sixth, and eighth innings.
Sean Keeler brought the heat against the Abilene Prairie Dogs during his outing. Keeler held the Abilene Prairie Dogs hitless over 2 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.
Bryan Smith got the win, running his season record to (2-1). He allowed two runs over six innings. He struck out five, walked one and surrendered seven hits.
Quinn Bright (0-3) ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked one and struck out five.
The Thunder will play their third game their four game series at home versus the Abilene Prairie Dogs at Edinburg Baseball Stadium on Wednesday night. Abilene will send right-hander Billy Petrick (0-0) taking on Thunder right-hander Brian Murphy (1-1) with the first pitch scheduled at 7:05 p.m.
