Daytona Beach Thunder News Release
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Daytona Beach Thunder didn't make it to the American Indoor Football League championship game, but its communication department will be in action in Rome, Ga. Monday night when the Rome Renegades host the Canton (Ohio) Legends in the American Bowl.
The Thunder's road crew of Director of Communications Dan Ryan, Director of Player Relations Brad Humphrey and Calvin Thomas - who started the season on the radio crew but worked his way into the starting running back job -- will serve as the league's broadcast team for the 7 p.m. web cast on www.teamline.cc . A one-hour pre-game show will start at 6 p.m. with Chattahoochee Valley Vipers Head Coach Jason Gibson joining for additional insight and analysis.
In addition, Thunder Director of Photography Don Bok will be the championship game's official photographer.
"It's always an honor to work a championship game," said Ryan, who doubles as the AIFL's communications director. "Of course, Calvin would rather be playing and I'd rather be calling Daytona Beach names instead of Rome or Canton names, but we'll represent Daytona Beach and the Thunder well on Monday night."
Rome (14-2) won the Southern Conference championship, while Canton (12-4) took the Northern Conference.
