
Thunder Claims One Award, Four Nominations

Wichita, KS- The Wichita Thunder received plenty of recognition at the 2011 CHL Awards Banquet in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday night, coming away with four nominations and one award.
Thanks in part to the tremendous technology afforded at INTRUST Bank Arena, The Thunder beat out three other finalists to win the Game Operations Franchise of the Year Award. The Thunder recently completed their first full season at INTRUST Bank Arena.
Thunder Director of Ticket Sales Amy Wilds was also one of four finalists for the Ralph Backstrom Soul of Service Award for Customer Service while General Manager Joel T. Lomurno was a finalist for the CHL Executive of the Year Award.
The franchise was also recognized as one of four finalists for the prestigious CHL Franchise of the Year Award, won by the Missouri Mavericks. The Thunder went from nine wins in 2009-10 to 34 victories last season, making their first playoff appearance since the 2006-07 season, while finishing third in the CHL for attendance.
