
Sean Gillam Takes Job in SPHL

The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) are happy to announce that long-time assistant coach Sean Gillam has accepted the head coaching position with the Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). Gillam has been with the Bees since their inception, first as a player-assistant then as the full time assistant coach.
"I loved my time in the Valley and part of me is sad to leave however this is a great opportunity in Fayetteville that I couldn't pass up." Gillam said. "I made my home and many friends here in the Valley and with the Bees and will never forget my nine years here."
Gillam's first season in the Valley was the 2003-04 campaign and during his three season playing career with the Bees put up 14 goals and 38 assists. 'Gilly', as he was referred to by the players, also wore the captain's 'C' for the Bees during 2004-05. Starting with the 2006-07 season Gillam moved behind the bench full-time leading the defense.
On January 5, 2008 the Bees retired Gillam's No.7 to the rafters of State Farm Arena.
Gillam made previous professional stops with Adirondack (AHL), Mississippi (ECHL, Orlando (IHL) and Jackson (ECHL).
Gillam has lived in the Valley year-round for the past eight years with his wife Leigh and they now have two son's Shane and Blake.
