CLEARWATER, FL - The Clearwater Threshers picked up their third victory of this four-game weekend series by posting a 7-2 win over the Fort Myers Miracle on Sunday afternoon at Bright House Field.

The Threshers grabbed the early lead as they scored three times in the second inning off of Miracle starter Miles Nordgren. Singles by Kyle Martin and Zach Green plus a walk to Jiandido Tromp loaded the bases with no one out. Malquin Canelo then drove a single to left to score Martin . After a double play, Austin Bossart grounded a single to center to score both Tromp and Canelo, giving the hosts a 3-0 lead after two innings.

The Miracle did get one of those runs back in the fourth. Joe Maloney and Trey Vavra singled with one out, and Alex Perez reached on an error to load the bases. Tanner Witt's sacrifice fly to center field then scored Maloney to make the score 3-1.

Clearwater responded quickly, however, scoring an unearned run in the bottom of that inning to reestablish a three-run lead. With one out, Canelo reached on a two-base throwing error by T.J. White, and scored one out later on Bossart's double to left.

Reynaldo Rodriguez' second homerun of the season, a solo shot to left field leading off the sixth inning, cut the Miracle's deficit to 4-2.

The Threshers, however, added some insurance in the seventh by scoring three unearned runs off of Miracle reliever Luke Westphal. The second throwing error of the game by White brought in the first run of the inning, and then Green lined a two-out, two run homerun to left field to extend the advantage to 7-2.

John Richy (3-4) earned up the win for Clearwater as he allowed five hits and two runs, only one of which was earned, in six innings of work, walking two and striking out three. Nordgren (0-3), who took the loss for the Miracle, allowed six hits and four runs, three earned, in his five innings of work, while also walking two and striking out three.

The Miracle (50-50, 16-15) will now return home for a seven-game homestand beginning on Monday night with a 7:05 p.m. game against the Palm Beach Cardinals. Keaton Steele (4-9) is scheduled to pitch for the Miracle, and he will be opposed by Austin Gomber (6-7) for Palm Beach. Fans can listen to the broadcast of the game on www.miraclebaseball.com with the "Voice of the Miracle" Brice Zimmerman. The pregame show begins at 6:45 p.m.
