Portland Winterhawks News Release

Three Portland Winterhawks prospects collected medals at the 2019 WHL Cup in the league's eighth year of the event. Defenseman Ryder Thompson and Team Manitoba earned a silver medal, while forwards Carter Streek and Kyle Chyzowski secured bronze with Team British Columbia after the five-day event.

Ryder Thompson finished the tournament with one assist as he helped Manitoba claim a second-place finish. Thompson was named to Team Manitoba's leadership corp as an alternate captain. He will captain RHA's Elite 15's this season.

Carter Streek had a productive event, finishing tied for sixth in scoring with five points (3G-2A) in five games. Kyle Chyzowski scored Team BC's first goal of the bronze medal game to help spark a come-from-behind win against Team Alberta.

Streek will play for Yale Hockey Academy Prep in 2019-20 and Chyzowski returns to Delta Hockey Academy Prep for another season.

Seth Jarvis, Tyson Kozak and Dante Giannuzzi won a bronze medal with Team Manitoba while representing the Winterhawks at the 2017 WHL Cup. The event did not take place in 2018 due to a conflict with the Canada Winter Games.
