Three Things: Dynamo in Search of First Win at Seattle Tonight
October 8, 2018 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Houston Dynamo FC News Release
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON - The Houston Dynamo will look to keep their playoff hopes alive tonight when they take on Seattle Sounders FC at 9:30 p.m. CDT at CenturyLink Field.
Tonight's match also represents a rematch of the 2017 MLS Western Conference Championship in which Seattle knocked off the Dynamo 3-0 and 2-0 in the home-and-home series. After going 30 matches in league play without squaring off, the two teams will now see one another twice in 13 days as Seattle visits BBVA Compass Stadium on Oct. 21 for the Dynamo's home finale.
GAME INFORMATION:
MATCHUP: Houston Dynamo (0-13-8; 35 pts.) at Seattle Sounders FC (14-11-5; 47 pts.)
TIME: 9:30 p.m. CDT
TV: KUBE Ch. 57 (Local Channel Guide)
RADIO: CBS Sports Radio 650 AM (English); Univision Radio 1010 AM (Spanish)
HERE ARE THREE KEY POINTS YOU'LL NEED TO KNOW AS YOU PREPARE FOR TONIGHT'S GAME:
MUST WIN - Houston comes into tonight's game on 35 points, 11 back of sixth-place Real Salt Lake. With four games remaining in the regular season, Houston has a maximum of 12 points available to them, which creates a must-win situation if the Dynamo want to make it back to the postseason for a second consecutive year.
KEEPING MANOTAS GOING - Houston forward Mauro Manotas has been brilliant over the last month, with four goals in his last four league games and six in his last five appearances across all competitions. Manotas is tied for fifth in the league with 15 goals on the year, a club single-season record, and the Dynamo will likely need him to continue his hot streak if they want to knock off the Sounders.
A BEAUTIFUL OPPORTUNITY - The Dynamo have never defeated the Sounders in Seattle, going 0-6-2 in eight previous trips during regular-season play. Houston manager Wilmer Cabrera called the chance to capture the club's first victory at CenturyLink Field "a beautiful opportunity" earlier this week, and it'll be an opportunity the manager hopes his charges take full advantage of later tonight.
