Three-Run Seventh Wins it for Senators

Jackson, MS; August 6, 2003 – The Senators came from behind to beat the Coastal Bend Aviators Wednesday night 5-4. Vern Spearman roped his first home runs as a Jackson Senator; a three runs shot that gave put the Senators on top 5-4. Spearman on the night went 1-3, scoring one run and driving in three. Steve Brown (2-7) picked up the win, going 7.1 innings allowing four runs; only one was earned on nine hits. Brandon Parker came in and shut the door on the Aviators in the ninth inning, earning his league leading 18th save of the year. Mike Smith (8-4) suffered the loss, after giving up five runs on seven hits in 6.2 innings of work. Keto Anderson hit the ball well, going 2-4 with his league leading 8th triple of the season; he also drove in a run and scored a run. With the win, the Senators improved to 19-13 on the half and 50-30 overall on the season. The loss dropped the Aviators to 20-13 on the half and 37-44 overall on the year.

Next home game: Will take place on Thursday, August 14, 2003, as it will be "Miller Lite Shirt Off Our Back Night, with all adults have the chance to win a game worn Miller Lite T-shirt right off the back of a Jackson Senator Player. It will also be Thirsty Thursday, with $1.00 drink specials on both draft beer & soft drinks. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. with the gates opening at 6:00 p.m.
