
Three Power Play Goals Solidify Sundogs' 4-2 Win

Prescott Valley, AZ - Three power play goals solidified the Arizona Sundogs 4-2 win over the Rapid City Rush Friday night at Tim's Toyota Center, extending their win streak to four games and an 9-0-2 record since the new year. Paul Mcilveen, David Rutherford and Justin Pender all posted multiple points leading the Sundogs to a victory.
Bryan Cameron put Arizona on the board 15:32 into the opening period after Rapid City's Justin Sawyer was issued an unsportsmanlike conduct minor, sending the Sundogs on the power play. 58 seconds later Johan Ryd was awarded a penalty shot but was unsuccessful.
Kevin Baker also received a penalty shot though was also unsuccessful, 3:52 into the second period. Baker later scored a power play goal from Matt McCready and Mcilveen and 10 minutes later David Rutherford scored the Sundogs third power play goal of the night while on a 5-on-3 power play.
Rapid City cut their deficit in half scoring two goals in the third period. Their first came 3:32 with a goal from Justin Faryna from newly added Kevin Harvey and Ryan Palmer. Rutherford notched his second of the night with assist from Justin Pender. With under five minutes remaining in regulation Jared Brown registered a power play goal after Mike Trebish was given two minutes for elbowing.
Andrew Engelage collected his fourth consecutive win and made 38 saves. Rapid City outshot Arizona 40-30. The Sundogs were 3-7 on the power play while Rush were 1-6.
The Sundogs close out their three game series against the Rush tomorrow night during their Pink in the Rink game. Arizona will be wearing specialty designed pink jerseys which will be auctioned off at the conclusion of the game with the proceeds benefiting cancer initiatives.
