May 30, 2011 - Texas Collegiate League (TCL)
Coppell Copperheads News Release

With much excitement, the Coppell Copperheads are announcing the signing of Clayton Crum, Doug Ashby, and Bo Altobelli. These three players represent the Big 12 portion of the Copperheads roster. With the Conference's undoubted high prestige, these signees look to add a high level of play for the city of Coppell to come watch in their own backyard. The season begins on June 1st and the first home game is on June 3rd at 7:05 PM against the East Texas Pump Jacks.

Clayton Crum, the freshman from the University of Texas will help to bolster the Copperhead's pitching staff this upcoming summer. The right handed pitcher posted a 1.54 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 36 innings during his senior year in high school. Crum will also bring the Copperheads his leadership experience acquired from being a quarterback for his high school team in Spring, Texas.

The second Big 12 pitcher the team signed is Doug Ashby. He is a left handed freshman attending Baylor University. Doug went to Boyd High School in McKinney, Texas where he was named first-team all district 85-A. His Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll award will prove that dedication, hard work, and intelligence won't be a concern for the Copperheads.

Bo Altobelli, the sophomore catcher/infielder from Plano, is the third Big 12 player we are happy to announce joining the team. Playing in his second season for Texas Tech, Bo had a .398 slugging percentage and a team leading .315 batting average. He also looks to help out the Copperheads defensively with a flawless 1.000 fielding percentage in 39 games played.

The Copperheads are currently selling advertising and marketing opportunities for the 2011 season as well as season passes and group tickets. Come out and support your Coppell Copperheads.
