Brooklyn, NY - Mike Thomson scored 24 seconds into overtime to complete the comeback, which gave New York a 5-4 victory over the Rome Frenzy on Friday night in Federal Hockey League action.

The win catapults the Aviators to 13 straight wins, and also gives them their 18th victory on home ice.

New York skated into the first intermission with a 1-0 lead on the lone goal credited to Andrew Scampoli. Scampoli found the puck in the slot from line mate Nick Vandenbeld, and his wrister slid under the right pad of Rome net minder Anthony Luckow for his 16th tally of the season at the 10:13 mark.

In the second period though, Rome cashed in for three goals in a three-minute span to take a 3-1 lead over New York. However, the Aviators battled back with two consecutive tallies of their own to tie it at three. Jesse Felten found the back of the net at the 4:28 mark for his 16th marker on the campaign, which was then followed by Casey Mignone's 14th goal of the season with 6:37 left in the frame.

With just 32 seconds left in the third, Tibor Varga gave the Frenzy the 4-3 lead sending the Rome bench in a craze thinking they had the win. Thomson had other thoughts, and with seven seconds left in regulation tied the game with his 14th goal of the year.

New York moves to 24-12-2 on the season, while Rome falls to 11-27-7.

Pete Dundovich gains his sixth win after stopping 37 shots for New York. Luckow is charged with the loss despite stopping 28 shots.

The Aviators hit the road on Saturday to take on the Cape Cod Barons at 6:35PM. Catch all the action live from Tony Kent Arena with Aviators' broadcaster Carmine Vetrano. For more information on the Aviators, log onto newyorkaviators.com or call 718-758-7580.
