This Week in the IFL
May 7, 2009 - Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release
From the Director of Communications
In a spot normally dedicated to our Commissioner Tommy Benizio, who is in Alaska visiting our great teams in Anchorage and Fairbanks, will be an address from Mike Clark.
For those of you who may not know, I have been brought on by the IFL as the new Director of Communications. The first couple weeks have been a great learning curve but I am finally settling in to my duties of promoting the league to its fullest potential. I have a lot of ideas and changes to update our GoIFL website as well as enhance the exposure of each team and the league as a whole. Please feel free to email any suggestions you may have as well.
Now, onto the action. You couldn't have asked for a more exciting week of play then Week 8. We saw an Omaha team win a game on the very last play, two quarterbacks throw for seven touchdown passes, and a Thunder squad get its first win of the season due to a record setting, seven field goal performance by their kicker. If Week 9 has half the drama and intensity of last week, then fans are in for a treat. As a fan myself, I cannot tell you how excited I am to see the battles heat up and the playoff races start to unfold. Stay tuned, as your all in for an amazing second half of the inaugural IFL season!
Week 9 Game of the Week
Bloomington (5-3) @ Rivercity (6-1)
Bloomington heads to Rivercity for the IFL Game of the Week. The Extreme dismantled Alaska last week and is poised for their biggest test of the season. QB Mitch Tanney is lighting up the stat sheet this season, and leads the IFL in passing yards with 1,325.
The Rage will be going for their fourth win in a row, all of which have been on home turf. Like Bloomington, Rivercity has a star Quarterback of their own in Dixie Wooten. The gun slinger has an unbelievable 33 -2 touchdown to interception ratio through the teams first seven games and has averaged 191 yards passing per game.
Offense, offense, offense will be the name of this game. Don't miss out on this highly anticipated match-up. Fans can watch all games live on the B2 Network by logging on to www.b2now.com and for more information on these or any league topics, visit www.GoIFL.com or contact the IFL league office @ 804-643-PASS (7277).
