Thigpen, Ruwe Named Batter and Pitcher of the Week

DURHAM, NC - PA-Sportsticker, the official statistician of the Can-Am League, has named Brockton Rox OF Jud Thigpen and Sussex Skyhawks RHP Kyle Ruwe as the Teamline Direct Batter and Pitcher of the Week.
In 21 at-bats, Thigpen batted .333 with three home runs, five RBI and five runs scored. He collected seven hits along with a slugging percentage of .810 and a .375 on-base percentage. On the season, Thigpen is hitting .232 with six home runs, 17 RBI and a slugging percentage of .488. The 28-year-old is tied for first in the Can-Am in home runs and fourth in runs batted in.
The Cleveland, MS native was signed as a nondrafted free agent by the Colorado Rockies in June 2004. Thigpen spent three seasons in the Rockies system before joining the New Jersey Jackals in 2007. Last season for Brockton, he hit .295 with 17 home runs and 70 RBI.
Ruwe, 26, was terrific in the 9-0 win over the American Defenders of New Hampshire this past Thursday. He threw a complete game shutout allowing two walks and nine hits while striking out eight New Hampshire batters. Ruwe is 3-0 on the year with a 1.26 ERA in five starts. The Sunrise, FL resident is first in the league in ERA and third in strikeouts (24).
