(Rochester, NY)-Rochester Brigade head coach Mark Saunders announced that last season's team MVP Offensive Specialist Martino Theus has been assigned for the upcoming 2003 season by the league office.
"I'm very excited to be back for another season and be reunited with most of the guys from last season... to finish what we started and make a championship run! I love being a part of this community and competing for these great fans, especially the kids," stated Theus.
The 6'2, 180 lbs, OS out of Lambuth University played in all 16 games for the Brigade during the 2002 season, where he set team records in receptions (160) and receiving yards (1,753). Theus ranked second in the league for receptions and for receiving yards per game (109.6). He set the team record for receptions in a game (14) and receiving yards in a game (195) against the New Haven Ninjas on May 3, 2002. He registered ten or more catches and 100 or more receiving yards in nine games last season and led the team in scoring (128) and touchdowns (21).
Since being acquired in 2001, Theus has played in all 22 games for the Brigade and has totaled 176 receptions for 1,924 yards and 22 touchdowns. He will be entering his second full season in 2003 as the team's starting OS.
