Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release

Oklahoma City-The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz, coming off a playoff appearance in their inaugural af2 season, take a major step in shaping their 2005 roster on Saturday January 22nd. That day the Dawgz will be holding an open tryout, looking for the players who will thrill fans at the Ford Center this summer.

The tryout will take place at the Cox Convention Center in exhibit halls 2 and 3, with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. Players need to bring the tryout registration fee of $55 (cash or money order, no personal checks or credit cards will be accepted), and be dressed in appropriate workout attire. All of the tests will be done indoors on artificial turf, so shoes appropriate for that surface will also be needed. There will not be locker rooms available so players must come dressed and ready to test.

"This tryout is a big part of us forming our team for this season," Dawgz head coach Jeff Jarnigan said. "With all of the talented football players around Central Oklahoma, we expect a lot of strong competiton at this tryout. This is a great opportunity for players to continue and advance their football careers."

Along with height and weight measurements, players will be tested in a number of shuttle runs, figure and agility drills, the standing long jump, vertical jump, and 40-yard dash. There will also be a stationary target drill for prospective quarterbacks.

Following the morning workout sessions, selected players will be invited back for an afternoon session. That will focus on specific position drills: Quarterbacks-drops, passing and ball exchnge drills; Wide Receivers-catching, running routes and releases; Offensive Line-passprotection drill work; Defensive Backs-Secondary drills and coverage review; Linebackers-pass rush and pursuit drills; Defensive Line-pass rushing drills.
