The Torrington Titans Cruise Past the Wachusett Dirt

The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (9-17) didn't have a chance on Saturday, as the Torrington Titans (11-15) won in blowout fashion, 13-2 at Doyle Field.

The Torrington Titans scored five runs in the fourth on the Torrington Titans scored in the fourth on a solo home run by Mikey Arman, a two-run single by Mike DeMartino, and a two-run home run by Wes Robertson.

The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs were ahead early but they ultimately surrendered the lead for good. The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs led until the fourth inning, but the Torrington Titans took the lead back on a two-run single by DeMartino.

Michael Purcell racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Torrington Titans. He singled in the second and eighth innings and homered in the ninth inning.

Matt Nalbone pitched lights out for the Torrington Titans. Nalbone held the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Jason Staub recorded his second win of the year for the Torrington Titans. He allowed two runs over seven innings. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered nine hits.

Riley Sorenson (2-2) took the loss for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs. He lasted just four innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
