Inter Miami CF News Release
On Monday, the Inter Miami CF Foundation teamed up with Inter Miami First Team players to welcome local high school students from the Overtown Youth Center to DRV PNK Stadium and the Florida Blue Training Center.
The Foundation's newest initiative of 2023, Captain's Forum, focuses on shaping the young leaders of today by exposing them to our "captains" on the pitch. The OYC students participated in the Club's first-ever edition of Captain's Forum, designed to honor and celebrate Black History Month.
The season-long initiative kicked-off on Monday with a welcome presentation from the Inter Miami CF Foundation Director, Adriana Sandoval, and First Team players, Aimé Mabika, DeAndre Yedlin, Drake Callender, and Victor Ulloa at DRV PNK Stadium.
The welcome presentation was then followed with a tour of DRV PNK Stadium and tour of the Florida Blue Training Center where students visited the press conference room, the First Team locker room, the player tunnel, VIP lobby, and gym.
During their time in the Stadium, the students participated in a mock "press conference" where they were introduced to topics such as how to be a good role model, how words and actions matter and understanding how to use social media platforms responsibly. While visiting the locker room, students and players engaged in conversation on how to support one another and the importance of developing coping mechanisms when dealing with intense emotions.
Following the tour, each participant received an Inter Miami CF jersey before taking a group photo on the pitch!
Games, activities, and lunch followed! The First Team players and participants enjoyed a game of knockout and continued with open discussions on becoming dynamic changemakers in the community. The goal of Captain's Forum is to provide kids with opportunities to learn how to make a difference in our communities as well as giving each student the tools to become positive role models and successful young adults.
This mentoring program is the start of something big! The Club and the Inter Miami CF Foundation are excited to continue the growth of the Captain's Forum Programming, furthering the Club's commitment to developing "captains" on and off the pitch.
