Orlando City SC Provides Update on Duncan McGuire Contract Status

ORLANDO, Fla. - Ahead of the 2023 MLS SuperDraft, forward Duncan McGuire signed a contract with Major League Soccer (MLS) as a pre-signed senior, seeing him guaranteed with the Lions through 2023, with Club options in 2024, 2025 and 2026 .

"The 2023 SuperDraft was an important building block for our roster and, as we previously said, we were happy to get the players we had our eyes on from the start," Orla ndo City EVP of Soccer Operations and General Manager Luiz Muzzi said. "After a very successful collegiate career, Duncan was of course high on our list and to get tw o play ers that were already signed, both him and Shak Mohammed, it helped us have an important step already taken so we could instantly begin their focus on the field."

Orlando City SC selected the Omaha, Nebraska-native No. 6 overall in the MLS SuperDraft. The 2022 MAC Hermann Trophy Winner and 2022 NCAA Division I leader in goals (23) and points (49), McGuire comes to Orlando after four years at Creighton. In 2022, as a redshirt junior, the Omaha-native led the Bluejays to a BIG EAST Tournament title before making a run to the College Cup, eventually falling in the Semifinals to eventual NCAA Champion Syracuse.

McGuire was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-America Second Team and All-East Region First Team, while earning BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year honors and Most Outstanding Offensive Player for the BIG EAST Tournament. In total, McGuire finished his career at Creighton with 55 appearances and 32 starts, netting 28 goals and adding six assists.
