The Saugerties Stallions (14-32) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 6-3 to the Albany Dutchmen (25-20) on Thursday.
An RBI double by JJ Shimko (University of SC Upstate) gave the Albany Dutchmen the lead in the sixth inning.
Shimko reached base four times in the game for the Albany Dutchmen. He scored one run and had one RBI. He doubled in the sixth inning and singled in the first and eighth innings.
Jared Gold (Coastal Carolina) brought the heat against the Saugerties Stallions during his outing. The Saugerties Stallions managed just three hits off of Gold, who allowed one earned run, walked none and struck out one during his five innings of work.
Gavin Wallace (Fairfield University) got the win, running his season record to 3-2. He allowed two runs over two innings. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered four hits.
Will Wortmann (Gettysburg College) ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
