AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mike Rathe threw for 242 yards and sixi touchdowns in his 2007 Augusta debut as the Spartans defeated the Osceola Ghostriders 55-46 in the World Indoor Football League Friday, April 13.

Rathe, who played with the Spartans for six games in 2006, connected with league-leading receiving Marvin Stone (8 catches for 113 yards) on four touchdowns and Anthony Young (8-128) for two. Young also rushed for one score.

Augusta (3-3) remained unbeaten on eAuction Depot Field in the James Brown Arena, while Osceola (3-3) stayed winless on the road.

Rob Harding had 169 yards and five touchdowns for an injury-depleted Osceola team. Lamont Finnie (5-73) and Dante Johnson (5-57) each scored twice.

Osceola erased a 22-10 deficit to take a 26-22 advantage on Harvey Joiner's fumble recovery in the end zone for a touchdown with 10:43 remaining in the third quarter, but the Spartans took control with Rathe's touchdowns to Young and Stone and Shon Rowser's second UNO for a 36-26 advantage early in the fourth quarter.

The Ghostriders pulled to three point twice in the fourth quarter, both on Finnie touchdowns, but the Spartans answered each time,

Rathe was named offensive MVP, Matthew Tripp defensive MVP, TJ Watkins line and Rowser on special teams.
